Q

ETEC (enterotoxigenic E. coli) exotoxin

A

one exotoxin is called LT stands for heat labile exotoxin. has homolOgy with cholera exotoxin. AB5 exotoxin uses same receptor and has same fn

Q

EHEC enterohemorrhagic E coli 1st virulence factor

A

senses furose in environment and produces 2 virulence factor. 1st is adhesin called intamin, after ingestion E. coli uses pili to bind weakly to intestinal epithelium. PAI that ecodes intamin, a T3SS and intamin receptor called Tir

Q

what does EHEC using T3SS for

A

uses T3SS to intorduce tir into host cytoplasm. host will phosphrylate tir and insert it into PM. E.coli then used intamin to bind to tir for stronger bonding

Q

EHEC 2nd virulence factor

A

stx (shiga exotoxin) is similar to one by Shigella. stx genes are phage encoded, a AB5 exotoxin. B subunit binds to receptor on vascular intestinal endothelium cells, transported to golgi and then adheres to RER. A subunit transported from RER to cytoplasm.
