How is the liver affected by alcohol
- Excess alcohol consumption leads to the liver failing
- it breaks down the ethanol in the alcohol so that it can leave as waste
- but it irritates the liver cells and causes lots of fibrous scar tissue to surround the liver limiting functionality (potentially losing it completely)
- you develop cirrhosis =permanent liver damage
Alcohol effects:
- it is a diuretic( makes you urinate a lot) =leads to dehydration
- makes blood vessels dilate= pressure on heart
