What are the major anxiolytics?
A
Buspirone (buspar)
Benzodiazepines

Whats the big problem with benzos?
A
They induce dependence and patient’s develop tolerance.
This means we barely use them

When would we use benzos?
A
Short term in hospital for patient’s that really need the sedating effect
In alcohol & other substance withdrawal

Do we give anxiolytics on their own?
A
Generally they’re combined with SSRIs Or SNRIs
