A
- Coast and interior wet belt
- Hemlock, Balsam, Spruce hosts

How does DRN spread?
A
- primary wound invader (spores)
- P strain travels along roots
- S strain (butt rot, but can kill young trees up till about JS size)

What is the main diagnostic symptom of annosus?
A
White decay with black flecks throughout

Describe the conk for annosus
A
- Can be resupinate or shelf like
- found at base of tree/underside of roots
- Brown on top
- Holographic bottom

How is DRN managed at harvest?
A
-Stumping is not very effective due to spore infection ability.

How is DRN managed at JS?
A
- JS creates wounds due to root grafting with remaining trees
- Stumps can be treated with borax

What are the two strains of DRN? Which in BC?
A
- H. irregulare Pine strain (similar to DRL, Eastern canada-California.)
- H. occidentale Spruce strain (In BC, A but rot with limited ability to travel along roots.)
