DRA Management Flashcards
How is DRA managed in Dry interior? what about ICH?
- If found in dry interior, no management necessary
- If found in ICH, stump if at all possible. Plant alt spp. if ecologically suitable.
What can be done at harvest/regen to manage DRA?
- Get stumps out of ground via stumping / pushover harvest
- Alternate species (50%-100%)
- Conifers (Lw Cw)
- Harwoods
- Pines
What fungal antibiotic does DRA produce?
sporasol
What is done at JS for DRA in young stands?
Be very cautious if you can see it at all. Armillaria can go into a flare up in cut stumps which will quickly increase in strength and start killing.
- Avoid brushing (If needed, make sure it is done early to reduce flare up)
Low - space of you feel necessary but favor Lw Cw as leave trees.
Mod - only if greater than max density
High - do nothing. Accept reduced stocking. Potential rehab.
Where is partial harvest ok?
- On the coast it should be ok as long as trees are mature.
- not for ICH
- In other zones, be very cautious. If you had to, do patch cuts and remove innoculum. Really stress Lw Cw as leave trees (less than 20% susceptible)
How do we manage for DRA on the coast?
No management because mortality drops off after 15 years age.
-mix spp. if your worried.
