How do you use characterisation
• character cards- a detailed description of a character giving background information
• hot-seating- question a character in role
• writing in role- dairy entries or letters
•thought tracking- character speaks their thoughts aloud
In characterisation what should be considered
- relationships with other characters in the drama
-portrayal- language voice and movement
-status- where they stand economically
-the background of the character
What is linear and non-linear
•a linear is a chronological structure when it unfolds beginning to end
•non-linear is when the drama shifts in time e.g- flashback/flash-forward
What are the types of lighting
•Fresnel- a soft edged beam of light
•profile- a hard edged beam of light, a spotlight
•flood- large wash of light that goes all over the stage
What are the different lighting effects you can use
•Gels- they are transparent coloured material you put in front of lanterns to add colour to the beam
•Gobos-these are stencils that create a shape of light
•intensity- the brightness that ranges from 1-100%
•Barn doors- the four metal flaps attached to theatrical light unit in order to spill light in a certain direction

•End On- has wings and one audience view
•In The Round- audience can see all around the stage

• traverse- audience can see from the left and right of the stage
