DNOC Flashcards
1
Q
Etology of Poisoning - DNOC
A
- DNOC is used as Insecticide, Acaricide, Fungicide and Herbicide
2
Q
Mechanism of Action - DNOC
A
- Inhibition of Oxidative Phosphorylation in the Tissue
-Causes decreased synthesis of Energy Rich Compoinds (e.g. ATP)
-That stimulates the Metabolism in the Poisoned Organims
! It is also a Methemoglobinanemic Agent!
3
Q
Clinical Symptoms - DNOC
A
Within minutes:
* Yellow Mucous Membrane, Skin and Feathers
* Hyperpnoea, Dyspnoea
* Sweating => Increased Body Temperature
* Oliguria
* Muscle weakness, Spasms
* Rapid Rigor Mortis after Death!
4
Q
Treatment - DNOC
A
- Application of Barbiturates
- Rehydration => Offer water
- Cold room
- Decontamination of the Skin => with Sope and Water
At high concentrations:
* Methemoglobin Methylene Blue is applied
5
Q
Chemical-Toxicological Analysis (CHTA) - DNOC
A
- Extraction in Organic Dissolvents
-For Isolation and Detection
! All materials with conspicous Yellow colour MUST be examined
-Alkaline Environment = Forms Salt - soluble in waterwith intensive Yellow colour of NaOH
-Acid Environment = Poorly soluble
