SHOTSPOTTER SHOULD ALWAYS BE UP ON YOUR COMPUTER. MAKE SURE THE VOLUME IS AT LEAST 30.
When a Shotspotter comes in, check it to see if it is in our area. Click “OK” to acknowledge it. If you want or need to see the specific location, click on the box with the yellow number on it. You can scroll in and it will show you exactly where the area it was shit is in the circle.
* If it is not in our area, you’re done
* If it is within a few blocks of our area, call it out to the command officer on duty with the location and number of shots fired. They will decide if we are going to respond.
* If it is in our area:
-Start a CAD entry
-Use PPD for “Received”
-Dispatch 2 Officers
-Address
-How many shots fired
-Exact Location of the shots
* Make the Shotspotter full screen. Scroll in so you have a good picture of the circle and streets in the area for a reference.
1. Hit “ALT - FN - PRINT SCREEN”
2. Start an email. Paste it to the email.
3. In the subject line, use the address of the shots fired
4. Include the number of shots fired
5. Send it to Chief, Captain, Lt McKean & all Officers on duty at that time
6. Put in CAD that an email has been sent
* Include in CAD all information given to you by Officers. The Command Officer should be letting you know that they contacted 200 and if he is going to send out an alert
