Code 1 - Life Threatening

A

It is important to get the minimal amount of information necessary - and get the call out on the air to the Officers.

  • Phone Number eof the Caller
  • Location of the Situation - Address, Building, Room Number, Front/Back
  • What is the Situation? (Seizure, Unconscious, Life-Threatening)
    -Conscious, Alert, Breathing
    -Male/Female
    -Age
  • Identify the Caller

If the Caller says the person is unconscious, seizure, head injury, life threatening, ect. conference the caller to city immediately. Mute the phone while city is getting their information. Get back on with the caller when city is done so you can continue to update the Officers.

Start a CAD entry
Call for AMT for Code 1:
* Hit the 2000 line and then the “Peoria PD” line
* “This is (name) with Bradley University Police.”
* “I have a caller on the line for a medical emergency.”
* “We need Code 1 to (Location) - Address, Building, Room Number, ect.”
* “For (Situation)” (example; Seizure, Unconcious, Life-Threatening)
-Conscious, Alert, Breathing?
-Male/Female
-Age – approximate is fine
* “I have officers on the way.”
* “I am conferencing the caller to you for more information.”
* Push Conference Button
* Hit “Mute” until city is done
* Get back on with the Caller until Officers arive

Be sure to tell them all of this information. If they are disconnected or something, you know they have the important information.

Dispatch 2 Officers:
* Medical Emergency
* Building/Room Number, Address/Apt Number
* Situation (example; Seizure, Unconscious, Life-Threatening, Requested)
-Conscious, Alert, Breathing
-Male/Female
-Age – approximate is fine
* Advise that AMT is being notified and you will update them as needed

Be sure you have the AMT Number & Engine Number that are on scene

STAY ON THE LINE WITH THE CALLER UNTIL AN OFFICER ARRIVES
