- Notifications of 911 calls placed from campus phones, whcih are recieved in the BUPD Dispatch Center through the “Fire Phone,” will be treated as a Call for Service and generate an incident number in the CAD system. Each call requires a minimum of 2 BUPD units to be dispatched regardless of the circumstances.
- Dispatchers will provide the responding units with the caller’s name, address, phone number (including extention) whenever available and any additional information which may aid the responders in identifying the location of the party who placed the call or circumstancse of the emergency.
- When a 911 call is made from an on campus telephone, a “911 in pregress” notification will be received on the “Fire Phone” in BUPD dispatch
- Upon recieving a “911 cal in progress” notification, the BUPD dispatchers will log the name and extention in CAD.
- Using the telephone directory, the BUPD sipatcher will obtain the physical address to include building and room number for the extention that made the call.
- In CAD, the “Recieved Type” should be entered as “911 Notifications.”
- Dispatch 2 BUPD Officers to the location. The dispatcher shall inform the officers that a 911 call is being placed from that location and the circumstances, if known. If the circumstances are unknown, the dispatcher shall inform the officers of such.
- Peoria Police Departmetn (PPD) Public Safety ANswering Point (PSAP) Follow-Up
-If PPD PSAP contacts the BUPD Dispatch Center, the BUPD dispatcher must log the information and update the BUPD Officers.
-If the BUPD dispatcher hears the PPD PSAP dispatch units to that location, the BUPD dispatcher must log the information and update teh BUPD Officers.
-If no call from PPD PSAP is recieved in 60-90 deconds, the BUPD dispatcher must call the PPD PSAP regarding the 911 call, log the information, and update the BUPD Officers. - BUPD Officer Response
-Officers shall repond to this assignment similar to an unknown emergency as outlines in established policies and procedures. Upon learning of the nature of the call, officers shall then respond as outlines in established policies and procedures.
-If appropriate, officers shall document the call following established protocals.
