When fired firing pin initiates the primer(M115) which initiates the booster pellet (IB52) and main propellant charge (WC890). Propellant ignites tracer, and gasses drive proj down barrel. Projectile functions after impact and pen of tgt. On striking the tgt the aluminium nose cap of projectile is crushed. Enough velocity and resistance of tgt, deformation of cap will ignite incendiary composition. Heat and pressure detonate HE and fragment steel body. 0.3 sec delay allows strengthened proj body to penetrate skin before detonating. Effects inside combo of incendiary, fragmentation, and blast. If proj misses tgt, after 5.3 secs tracer will heat thin wall between tracer and self destruct device causing HE charge to detonate and SD the projectile.
M792 HEI-T purpose
unarmoured, lightly armoured targets out to 3000m
M792 HEI-T function
Primer initiated by wpn firing pin. Primer ignites booster pellet, ignites propellant. Proj launched at nominal velocity of 1100m, range 3000m, non-arming distance of 10m. Impact, PD Mech fuze M758 functions and HEI filler (H761) detonates and disperses incendiary mixture. No impact, self-destruct function of fuze initiates as a result of spin decay, functions fuze after 6 seconds from firing.

High velocity, sub calibre, heavy metal penetrator for lightly armoured vehicles. Can be for soft skinned tgts and en pers bunkered in concrete structures and other such hard cover
