What is metadata of a document?
Record of when a document was edited, saved and printed.
How is data traditionally collected off a computer?
With the computer turned off
What is a live aquisition?
If a computer cannot be turned off a program is run to copy the data to an external hard drive
What is the hardware of a computer?
All physical parts, not including the data or software
What is the firmware of a computer?
The software ‘built into’ the hard drive
What is the motherboard of a computer?
Component which connects the processor, memory and peripheral devices
What is a hard disk drive?
Component which provides mass storage connected to motherboard and power supply
How is light used to take a digital photo?
Incoming light rays are turned into electrical signals. Incoming picture is broken up into millions of pixels. each with a number based on colour and brightness
What is the purpose of compressing images?
Allows images to be stored with less numbers and therefore take up less storage. Results in the loss of some information
