Diffusion Flashcards
What is Diffusion?
Diffusion is the movement of a substance from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration.
What are the two main types of transport
Active transport and passive transport
What are the types of passive transport?
Osmosis, simple diffusion, and facilitated diffusion
What is the Node?
Node is the area in which the leaves are attached to
What is passive transport
The movement from high concentration to
low concentration
What is active transport
Movement from low concentration to high concentration
What are the types of passive transport
Facilitated diffusion, simple diffusion and osmosis
What is is simple diffusion
Simple diffusion is a type of passive transport where substances move from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration across a membrane without the use of energy.
What is facilitated diffusion?
specific proteins in the cell membrane assist the movement of substances from high to low concentration across the membrane without the use of energy.
What is osmosis?
Osmosis is the passive movement of water from high to low concentration through a semi-permeable membrane to balance the concentration of substances.
What are the plant hormones?
Ethylene, Abscisic acid, Cytokinin, Gibberlin, Auxin
Types of tissues in transport systems
Xylem, Pholeom, atmospherem, transpiration and root pressure
How do other parts of the plant get minerals?
Plants get their food by the help of photosynthesis.
What is auxin?
promote cell elongation and differentiation
What is Gibberlin?
promote stem growth and seed germination
