What is a molecule?
Molecule is a combination of elements (atoms) that if broken up, will not give you the same compound.
For example, water is a molecule and cannot be broken up or you will not have water anymore. You would just have 2 hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom
Compound
Substance that is combined of two or more elements. Compounds, when formed, have no overall charge.
Salt is a compound (NaCl).
Atom vs. ion
Atoms have NO CHARGE
Hydrogen atom —-> H
Ions have a charge
Hydrogen ion ——-> H^1+
Negative monoatomic ions end in…
“Ide”
What ion is N^3-?
NitrIDE ion, cuz it is negative.
Not the nitrogen ion
