Diagrams Flashcards
What does the Data Flow Diagram identify in an information system?
The Source of the data, its flow between processes and its destination along with data generated by the system.
What symbols are used in a Data Flow Diagram?
Circles, Curved Lines, Boxes and an Open-Ended Rectangle.
What does Circles represent in a Data Flow Diagram?
Circles are used to represent Processes. Processes are actions taking place to transform inputs to outputs.
What does Curved Lines represent in a Data Flow Diagram?
Curved Lines represent Data flows between processes, data stores and external entities. Data flows should be named to identify the piece of data.
What does Boxes represent in a Data Flow Diagram?
Boxes are used to represent external entities. These are any item, person or organisation sitting outside the systems that provides data to the system or receives data from the system.
What does an open-ended rectangle represents in a Data Flow Diagram?
An open-ended rectangle I’d used to represent a Data Store. Data Stores
