autoimmune reaction that stops your body from making insulin
May have nausea/vomiting or stomach pain
Develops quickly - usually younger

Type 2
doesn’t use insulin well and can’t keep blood sugar at normal levels
Minimal symptoms
Usually starts when you’re an adult

At Risk for Gestational Diabetes
Mother has diabetes while pregnant
Previous Gestational Diabetes Baby > 9lbs Overweight Older than 25 Fam history of type 2 PCOS Race (AfAm, His > Cauc) **Usually subsides after birth
Symptoms of Diabetes
Urinate (pee) a lot, often at night Are very thirsty Lose weight without trying Are very hungry Have blurry vision Have numb or tingling hands or feet Feel very tired Have very dry skin Have sores that heal slowly Have more infections than usual
