What is type 1 diabetes?
When the pancreas is not producing enough/any insulin, therefore meaning blood glucose levels are not controlled naturally.
What causes type 1 diabetes?
You genetically receive diabetes, usually developed at a young age/birth.
How is type 1 diabetes treated?
Insulin is injected, so blood levels can be controlled.
A good diet with controlled amounts of glucose can deal with it easier.
Pancreas transplant.
In the future, stem cell treatment can help.
What is type 2 diabetes?
Body cells no longer respond to insulin made by the pancreas.
What causes type 2 diabetes?
It’s linked with obesity, lack of exercise and old age.
How can type 2 diabetes be treated?
Eating a balanced diet (controlling carbohydrates)
Losing weight
Doing regular exercise
Using drugs that helps insulin work better on the body cells, help the pancreas produce insulin and reduce the amount of glucose you absorb from your gut.
