Covers all aspects of human development across the lifespan. Child development is part of the process and much material focuses on the consistencies and changes which occur during the first two decades of life though the field is not restricted to babies and children

An innate bond to ensure survival, provides a safe base to explore the world and ultimately leads to a concept of how a child views themselves in the world (an internal working model)
