How is genital ridge formed?
Proliferation of epithelium and condensation of mesenchyme
What causes development of gonads?
Migration of PGCs along wall of hindgut and dorsal mesentery into genital ridge. If not reached gonads will not develop
What forms the primitive sex cords?
Proliferation of epithelial cells of genital ridge
How do the testis form?
Under influence of genes of Y chromosome, the primitive sex cords proliferate to form testis
How do ovaries form?
In female embryos with XX sex chromosome complement and no Y, primitive sex cords dissociate into irregular cell clusters
What are the 2 genital ducts that both male and females have initially?
Mesonephric (wolffian) and paramesonephric (mullerian) ducts
What forms the uterus?
Fusion of paramesonephric ducts
What happens between mth 3 and end of preg in males?
Testes transferred form lumbar area into future scrotum
What does male collecting duct system develop from?
Mesonephric duct
What does female collecting duct system develop from?
paramesonephric duct
What is the upper part of the vagina derived from?
Uterine canal
What is the lower part of the vagina derived from?
urogenital sinus
