A

-Philip stock was born on the 18th of January 1949.
-His ideas were initiative and unconventional, his design styles, challenge norms.
-His designs, mix functionality aesthetics
-his designs are minimalist and aims to be eco-friendly
-He designed the juicy salif and the ghost chair ( made from poly carbonate plastic) and miss k lamp (also made from poly carbonate plastic). These are both very simplistic designs.
-This impacted design as the materials used such as polycarbonate plastic, led to development of other products, has polycarbonate plastic is strong durable, and can easily be shaped
-also through the use of Phillips starks, simple and affordable designs, it opens the design market up to wider consumer market.

A

-Margaret Calvert focused upon graphic design and ergonomics, mainly focusing upon the design of road signs to blend in, and also be visible,
-she designed a font and under went testing to ensure the visual ergonomics of road signs suitable to read and understand what they were telling.
-she designed all the fonts, all the images and all of the colours for road signs to make sure that they were easily visible
-this is influential to design, as it shows how cognitive ergonomics and the development of cognitive ergonomics can be used to assist, day-to-day life, e.g. road signs

A

-dieter rams mainly focused upon designs mainly being functional. A lot of his designs did have minimalist aesthetics, focusing upon simplicity.
-when it comes to the aesthetics of his design, he mainly focused upon timeless elegance, meaning that the designs remain elegant in society’s eyes.
-Dieter rams designed the t3 pocket radio and a calculator, show how he focused upon the functionality of his products are near ability for them to fulfil user needs.

What did Charles and ray eames do and how was this influential

A

-Charles and Ray eames mainly focused on the initiative use of material~ particularly the use of moulded plywood and fibreglass to push the boundaries of design and make products functionable.
-they focused upon making furniture, which wasn’t only visually appealing, but also functional and comfortable.
-They focused upon organic forms to make their furniture unique, and create a sense of whimsy.
-some products made were: the eames lounge chair, which was made from plywood shell with a leather seating, eames plywood chair, which was a moulded plywood chair, showing beauty through simplicity.
-The use of fibreglass and plywood in their designs, influenced design as company such as IKEA also started to take on board, the idea of integrating furniture with materials, such as moulded, fibreglass and plywood.

What did Marianne brandt do and how was this influential

A

-Marianne brandt was influenced by her time at the bauhaus school, where she embrace principles of functionality, as well as simplicity
-she mainly focused upon using metalwork, create functional and simplistic designs
-she used geometric forms within her designs and focused on lighting.
-some of her designs consist of: a metal tea infuser, which is a functional but geometric metal piece. An ash try, this is also made out of metal (Nikcle and brass) also showing geometric shapes and simplicity.
-this influenced the design movement as metal work was shown to be a functional design idea for a lot of products. as well as influencing geometric and simplistic designs.
