Describing Weather_Lesson 3.1 Flashcards
The atmospheric conditions, along with short-term changes of a certain place at a certain time.
Weather
The force that a column of air applies on the air or surface below it.
Air Pressure
The amount of water vapor in the air.
Humidity
A tool used to measure humidity.
Barometer
A tool used to measure wind.
Anemometer
The amount of water vapor present in the air compared to the maximum amount of water vapor the air could contain at that temperature.
Relative Humidity
The temperature at which air is saturated and condensation can occur.
Dew Point
This occurs when cloud droplets combine and become large enough to fall back to Earth’s surface
Precipitation
A suspension of water droplets or ice crystals close to Earth’s surface.
Fog
Water droplets or ice crystals suspended in the Earth’s atmosphere.
Cloud
The series of natural processes by which water continually moves among oceans, land, and the atmosphere.
Water Cycle
A cloud that is flat, white, and layered. Altitude up to 2,000 m. This type of cloud is called a…
Stratus Cloud
A cloud that is fluffy, heaped, or piled up. Altitude 2,000 m to 6,000 m. This type of cloud is called a…
Cumulus Cloud
A cloud that is wispy. Altitude over 6,000m. This type of cloud is called a…
Cirrus Cloud
This increases from having more molecules overhead.
