irritants and allergens can penetrate the skin in:
atopic eczema
irritants - soap, detergent, solvents, dirt
allergen - pollen, dust mite antigens, microbes
childhood eczema flares can be associated with:
infection/virus
environment (cold air, hot)
pets
teething
stress
allergic eczema
suspect food allergy
immediate reaction (type I): blood test for specific IgE antibodies (RAST), skin prick test
late reaction (type IV): dietary elimination for 6 - 8 weeks
seborrheoic dermatitis is mainly on the
scalp and face
how do you treat eczema?
emollients
topical steroids (hydrocortisone)
calcineurin inhibitors
UVB light therapy
immunosuppressive medication
impetigo is usually from what bacteria?

how do you treat impetigo
topical antibacterial (fucidin)
oral antibiotic (flucloaxcillin)
