Accompanied by fever, chills, headache, malaise, dry cough
Herpes Varicella (checkenpox)
Zoster Virus
Dew drop on a rose pedal
Varicella
What disease is defined by a vesicular eruption in a dermatomal distribution (follows a nerve)?
Painful along nerve prior to development of rash
Herpes Zoster (Shingles)
Disease that starts out as a single red macule or papule that quickly becomes a vesicle, the vesicle erupts and the liquid forms a honey/gold colored crust, may or may not be pruritic
Nonbullous Impetigo
Disease that is defined by multiple blisters (bullae) occurring in the axillary, groin, or fold areas. The vesicles rapidly progress in to large flaccid bullae with sharp margins and no surrounding erythema. When they rupture a gold/yellow crust forms.
Bullous Impetigo
Disease defined by red dermatitis surrounded by satellite micro pustules. Commonly found on mucous membranes or in skin folds
Fungal infections
Disease forming tense bullae on normal or erythematous skin in elderly.
Bullous Pepigoid
Autoimmune disorder (IgG response at basement membrane)
Disease defined by clusters of erytmematous papules, excoriations and vesicles. Usually happens after the pt has eaten gluten and is sensitive to it. Pruritic and symmetrically distributed, usually in pts age 20-40
Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Autoimmune condition
Disease defined by predominantly flaccid blisters located on head, trunk, and intertiginous areas, usually in pts 40-60 years old
Pemphigus Vulgaris
Autoimmune Disorder

Slight rubbing of the skin results in exfoliation of the outermost layer forming a blister within minutes
Disease characterized by blistering of skin on sun-exposed areas especially hands and forearms, occasionally the face. May exhibit hypertrichosis of the forehead and cheeks, skin hyper pigmentation and urine discoloration
Porphyria Cutanea Tarda
Deficiency in heme-syntheszing enzyme
Risk factors include Hep C, Hemochromatosis and alcoholism
