Necrotizing faciitis can present with minimal inflammation of the skin but progress rapidly. The infection extends thru the dermal layer into the facia.

You may see crepitus and a purple discoloration above the infected area. As it progresses patients will become sick as shit and have AMS, fever, and maliase

it likes warm areas- so think between toes, armpits, where ever skin touches skin

diagnose erythrasma with a wood’s lamp

tx: oral erythromycin

pityriasis rosea is a self limiting rash. Appears with a hearold patch and multiple salmon colored patches in a “christmas tree” pattern

treatment is reassurance and follow-up.

If the patient needs relief from puritis: anti-histamines

Erysipelas is an infection of the upper dermis that appears rapidly. Its commonly described as sharply demarcated with advancing margins and may involve the lymphatics = “streaking” appearance.

Erysipelas is most often caused by staph pyogenes
