Delivering requirements - Module 13 Flashcards
What is the Waterfall life cycle
Cycle with sequential stages, Each stage is signed off before moving to the next stage
What does the backwards arrow show on the waterfall lifecycle
Shows the work should also be checked back to make sure scope is still the same
In the Waterfall cycle, what stages are the BA involved at
Feasibility and Analysis stage
Provide some advantages of the waterfall lifecycle
Clear management of the project
Provides good control of the project from a management perspective
Disciplined sign off between each stage
Provide some disadvantages of the waterfall lifecycle
Doesn’t enable adaption
Doesn’t handle changes very well
What is the V lifecycle ?
Sequential stages but in a V model
What does the V lifecycle connect and using what ?
Shows the relationship between earlier and Later lifecycle stages, showing the test criteria used between stages
What does the extended V lifecycle show ?
Provides focus on benefits realisation and if the benefits are not being realised then actions should be taken
What is the Incremental life cycle
the whole requirement, for instance, is divided into various builds which are then divided into smaller increments
Doesn’t deliver the full solution all together, but rather individually
Provide some Incremental life cycle disadvantages
Total cost of delivering the solution is likely to be higher than delivering solution in one release
Necessary to in the second and subsequent increments to carry out a specific form of testing known as regression testing, to make sure additional features do not cause any issues to delivered solution
