Infection, electrolyte abnormalities, anesthesia, adverse drug reactions
Early Clinical manifestations of delirium
Inability to concentrate, irritability, insomnia, loss of appetite, restlessness, confusion
Later clinical manifestations of delirium
Agitation, misperception, misinterpretation, hallucinations
Precipitating factors of delirium
Cognitive status, environmental, functional status, sensory, decreased oral intake, drugs
Environmental precipitating factors of delirium
ICU admission, use of physical restraints, pain, emotional stress, prolonged sleep deprivation
What is Delirium?
Rapid onset; State of disturbed consciousness with motor restlessness, transient hallucinations, disorientation, sometimes delusions
