Definitions Flashcards
Actual Landing Distance
Distance to come to a complete stop from a point 50ft above the landing surface
Required Landing Distance
Regulatory landing distance used for dispatch.
It is based on Actual Landing Distance multiplied by a
regulatory coefficient:
RLD (Dry) = ALD / 0.6
RLD (Wet) = 1.15 x RLD (Dry).
RLD (Contaminated) = greatest of [1.15 x ALD (Contaminated) or RLD (Wet)]
Windshear
Sudden change of wind velocity and/or direction, can be recognized by:
• Indicated airspeed variations in excess of 15 kts
• Groundspeed variations
• Vertical-speed excursions of 500 fpm or more
• Pitch attitude excursions of five degrees or more
• Glideslope deviation of one dot or more
• Heading variations of 10 degrees or more
• Unusual autothrottle activity
