Q

What is DFD?

A

dark, firm & dry pork syndrome –> prolonged transport, starvation before slaughter. Both produce lactic acid

Q

What are the variations of microcirculation in local acute inflammation?

A
  • vasoconstriction -> caused by serotonin
  • vasodilation -> histamine, bradykinin, prostaglandins, vascular change ( –> exudate formation)
  • increased vascular permeability -> by histamine & serotonin (–> fluid accumulates in tissues, swelling)
  • passive hyperemia

Q

What is hypotonic dehydration?

A
  • loss of water lower than loss of electrolytes
Volume of ECF goes down & ICF goes up
Osmolality of ECF & sodium content decrease
PCV, concentration of haemoglobin & PLASMA PROTEINS ARE INCREASED
CAUSE: diarrhoea, sweating (eq), vomiting, renal insufficiency, Na loss

Q

What is hypertonic dehydration?

A
  • loss of water is higher than electrolytes
    Volume of ECF goes down
    Volume of ICF goes down
OSMOLALITY OF NA & ECF INCREASED
CASUSES: failure in water intake, fever, diabetes insidious

Q

What is isotonic dehydration?

A
  • loss of water is equal to electrolytes
    Volume of ECF goes down
    Volume of ICF no change
CAUSES: diarrhoea, vomiting, bleeding, lactic acidosis, dislocation od abomasum, burns
