Decision Analysis and Resolution Flashcards

1
Q

DAR

A
  1. Decision Analysis and Resolution is a technique to analyze possible decisions using a formal evaluation process that evaluates identified alternatives against established criteria
  2. A process to make key decisions in your organization more objectively and wisely
    - applied in project or organization level
    - impact of the decision determines the formalism
  3. Benefits
    - reduces the subjective nature of the decision
    - a higher probability of selecting an alternative that meets the mulitple demands of the relevant stakeholders

Q

Establish Evaluation Criteria

A
  1. Identify a set of criteria for evaulation
    - Represent the relevant differentiating factors of alternatives
  2. Use a scale to reflect imortance
    - 1 to 10
    - low, medium, high

Pareto Analysis

A

Goal: Reduction of too many alternatives!

  1. Select the most significant criteria
  2. Evaluate all alternatives according to there criteria
  3. Allign all alternatives, sorted by their evaluated results, in a row
  4. Select a subset of the most significant alternatives

Paired Comparison Analysis

A

Goal: Determine relative ranking between alternatives!

  1. Comparing alternatives in pairs
  2. Decide which is the preferred or more important
    - assess the difference in importance
    - e.g. 0 (no difference) to 3 (major difference)
  3. Add up the total of the scores for each alternative

Grid Analysis

A

Goal: Select the best solution using criteria weights!

  1. Criteria are weighted representing their importance
  2. Evaluate each alternative for each criteria using a simple ordinal scale
  3. Calculate
    - the product of given assessment and weight
    - the sum for the products for each alternative
