Decision Analysis and Resolution Flashcards
1
Q
DAR
A
- Decision Analysis and Resolution is a technique to analyze possible decisions using a formal evaluation process that evaluates identified alternatives against established criteria
- A process to make key decisions in your organization more objectively and wisely
- applied in project or organization level
- impact of the decision determines the formalism - Benefits
- reduces the subjective nature of the decision
- a higher probability of selecting an alternative that meets the mulitple demands of the relevant stakeholders
2
Q
Establish Evaluation Criteria
A
- Identify a set of criteria for evaulation
- Represent the relevant differentiating factors of alternatives - Use a scale to reflect imortance
- 1 to 10
- low, medium, high
3
Q
Pareto Analysis
A
Goal: Reduction of too many alternatives!
- Select the most significant criteria
- Evaluate all alternatives according to there criteria
- Allign all alternatives, sorted by their evaluated results, in a row
- Select a subset of the most significant alternatives
4
Q
Paired Comparison Analysis
A
Goal: Determine relative ranking between alternatives!
- Comparing alternatives in pairs
- Decide which is the preferred or more important
- assess the difference in importance
- e.g. 0 (no difference) to 3 (major difference) - Add up the total of the scores for each alternative
5
Q
Grid Analysis
A
Goal: Select the best solution using criteria weights!
- Criteria are weighted representing their importance
- Evaluate each alternative for each criteria using a simple ordinal scale
- Calculate
- the product of given assessment and weight
- the sum for the products for each alternative

Q
Decision Making Approaches
A
- Directive: Team Leader
- Consultative: Leader collects opinions from team
- Democratic: All team members vote
- Consensus: All team members participate in decision making
