Child Protection investigation policy, procedures and CPP apply to…
All cases where the victim is under the age of 18 at the time of making the complaint.
Criteria for CPP:
- Sexual abuse
- Physical abuse
- Neglect

Actions of an offender that result in or could potentially result in, physical harm or injury. (Non-accidental injury)
Three areas to consider in determining whether physical abuse meets the threshold for referral as CPP?
- The action (of the abuse)
- The injury inflicted (outcome or result)
- The circumstances (factors)
What topics must be considered when completing an Initial Joint Investigation Plan (IJIP)?
- The immediate safety of
the child involved and
other children - If a joint visit is required
- Management of initial interview
- Referral to a medical
practitioner and authority
to do so - Collection of physical
evidence - Any further actions

Questioning a child regarding CPP offences:
DO NOT question a child on CPP offences disclosed unless absolutely necessary.
OT time frames:
Critical = 24 hours
Very urgent = 48 hours
Urgent = 7 days
