Insight into disorders characterized by deficits in emotional processing
DANVA
Target population (age, special populations, etc.)
Target pop: 3 +

What scales are included?
Happiness, sadness, anger, and fear are most frequently encountered

- Facial Expression Scales
- equal number of each emotion high low intensity - Paralanguage Scales
- Actor displaying emotion at different levels of intensity - Posture Scale
- photographed postures of the four emotions - facial expression blocked
DANVA
What is involved in the assessment (e.g. materials, administration details, general scoring guidelines)
Photos shown 2 sec
- after testing can go back to wront ones to see if they can be identified correctly to account for processing speed
Labels for emotions can be printed out to help with memory of the options
Encourage guessing
Scoring is just circling the answered emotion for the question
DANVA
Is it reliable / valid? Limitations/benefits of
standardization?
High test retest
Low mid convergent validity
standardization
for each subtest
done separately
unequal age race rep
DANVA
Under what situation might you choose to administer the assessment? Consider the benefits & limitations?
Individual diferences in sending & receiving nonverbal social information
DANVA
what are some benefits & limitations of the assessment?
Benefits
- minimal training to admin
- large age range
- shorter and longer forms for each subtest
Limitations
- disgust and surprise not included
- unequal age race rep
- recognizing emotion is not equal to understanding how someone feels
DANVA
What are the central / defining features of the assessment?
Individual
diferences in
sending &
receiving
nonverbal
