BRIEF®2
Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Function®, Second Edition

A

Screens for impairment of executive function in children and adolescents ages 5–18

It contains 63 items within nine theoretically and empirically derived and well-validated clinical scales that measure commonly agreed upon domains of executive functioning: Inhibit, Self-Monitor, Shift, Emotional Control, Initiate, Working Memory, Plan/ Organize, Task-Monitor, and Organization of Materials.

Columns are summed
■ These are the raw scores for each function

“N” = negativity scale
F” = infrequency scale
“I” = inconsistency scale

Raw scores are
translated into T-scores and percentile ranks

EF
Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test – 3rd edition (PPVT-III)

A

choose one of four items displayed on a card as depicting the word spoken by the examiner.

norm-referenced test of receptive vocabulary

2y6m and 90+ yrs

does not require the child to speak, read, or write. Although most examinees respond by touching or pointing to pictures, the test can be administered to individuals with significant motor impairment.

reliability is greatly hindered by the element of chance that the test has within its design.

Q

EF
Ruff 2 & 7

how is it scored

A

Measures sustained attention and selective attention

16 years to 70 years

consists of a series of 20 trials of a visual search and cancellation task. The respondent detects and marks through all occurrences of the two target digits: 2 and 7.

In the 10 Automatic Detection trials, the target digits are embedded among alphabetical letters that serve as distractors.
In the 10 Controlled Search trials, the target digits are embedded among other numbers that serve as distractors.

Q

BOT

total score

options for administration

short form

age

A

Total motor composite score - like FSIQ on WISC - best practice to use this score and administer full test but you can administer specific subtests and use only those - short form of test can be administered as well

Short form only has 14 items from whole assessment but does try to balance from whole assessment
Can be used as a screening device - can be use in a larger battery of assessments
Battery - collection of assessments that are included

4 years to 21y 11m

17
Q

BOT for what

A

Used to assess motor deficits in individuals with MILD TO MODERATE control problems

18
Q

norms for BOT

A

Sex specific norms available - can also compare to both

19
Q

BOT

BOT gold standard for whT

A

Gold standard to establish criterion validity

20
Q

GOODENOUGH DRAW – A – PERSON TEST

A

No time limit. Usually 10 minutes will suffice with young children.
This test is to be used primarily as a screening device.
