Racialised Expectations
Gilbourn and Youdell- teachers expect black students to present more discipline and view their behaviour as threatening and a challenge to authority
A-C economy- teachers focus on those who they think will get Cs and as they have low expectations of black students and therefore they don’t focus on them
Institutional racism
Hatcher- schools placed low priority in dealing with race issues and tackle issues of bullying
Assessment game
Gilbourn and youdell “assessment game” Reflects white supremacy
When black students achieve on a par with white students the rules change
Sanders and Horn- When black students work is marked by teachers they do worse
Ethnocentric curriculum
Gives priority to white culture and teach subjects that reflect white supremacy e.g English history etc
