League tables
Ranks schools from best to worst based on student grades which leads to schools having to raise their standards to have a better position on the league table
AO3 for league tables
Gilbourn and Youdell- this has led to A-C economy where teachers only focus their time and effort and rations on students they thing are capable which has led to educational triage- those who will pass anyway, hopeless cases, those with potential this therefore leads to class inequality
OFSTED
Measures how schools performance is and provides a detailed report on success and area of improvement can get ranked from 1 to 4
1- Outstanding 4- inadequate
AO3 for OFSTED
Gerwitz- privileged choosers, semi skilled choosers and disconnected choosers- MC parents (privileged choosers) are more likely to utilise and know about OFSTED reports
Formula funding
Schools get money based on the number of students they have therefore they need to meet the consumers needs in order to attract more pupils which means they are forced for raise standards

Negative impact on low achieving schools as they get less funding which further disadvantages the students there
Open enrolment
Created parentocracy as they get to choose where their child will go and can make sure their child attends the school with the best education
AO3 for open enrolment
Ball argues parentocracy is a myth as only MC can afford to relocate closer to a highly desirable school in order to benefit their child’s learning
National curriculum
A set curriculum that has to be taught in every school ensures all students are taught the same thing to prevent inequality
