A
If can confirm;
1/ fire extinguished

3/All located
4/ All receiving direct cooling
Then only need cordon to maintain SSOW. If not then full cylinder proc.

Q

Composite

A

Allow contents to burn off and protect surrounding risks and gas dispersal.

If resin still intact extinguish fire and cool cylinder.

If can’t confirm composite, it may have aluminium liner, there treat as steel cylinder.

Q

Steel Cylinder

A

•If risk failure (300 oC) 200m HZ. Substantial cover may allow reduction.
Consider time to implement this against time to cool cylinder.

• If not risk failure just need size HZ to allow SSOW.

•Extinguish Fire & cool cylinder to ambient temp as assessed by TIC, and check not leaking ( sound of air escaping or bubbling). Then remove HZ..
Send message stating highest temp and HZ removed, TM.

Q

Acetylene

A

•200m HZ
•Cool 1hr
•CAP - TIC, steaming drying out, leave 15 mins,spray water.
Do this 4 X = 1hr.
• HMEPO can advise on reducing HZ after 1st successful test in CAP
• If not ambient temp reapply 1hr cooling and CAP
•If cylinder is at ambient temp it is not at risk of failure providing;
1/ not reheated
2/ not moved or disturbed during CAP
3/ cooled & monitor until CAP passed
• If passed hand over to RP
