20 weeks out from the race
-preparatory: 15 weeks, 3-5 mesocycles
-pre-competition: 4 weeks, 1 mesocycle
-taper: 1 week, dramatically lower volume
example of calendar breakdown:
client has goal to run 10k
40 weeks out from the race
-preparatory: 30 weeks
-pre-competition: 9 weeks (because we only want 1 week of taper)
-taper: 1 week
