A

Reduce spontaneous depolarisation:

  1. Blocks Na, Ca, K channels
  2. Antagonists of A & B adrenergic receptors

What are the adverse effects of amiodarone?

A
  1. Can cause hypotension during 2. Pneumonitis
  2. Bradycardia
  3. AV block
  4. Hepatitis
  5. Coz it contains iodine- thyroid problems
  6. Very long half life

A
  1. Used in cardiac arrest in the Advanced Life Support algorithm
  2. 300mg IV, followed by 20ml of 0.9% saline or 5% glucose as a flush
