What is the mode of action for adrenaline?

A
  1. Agonists of alpha 1,2 beta 1,2 adrenoreceptors: fight/flight
  2. Vasoconstriction of vessels supplying skin: alpha 1
  3. Inc HR, vasodilation of vessels supplying heart: Beta1
  4. Broncodilation and suppression of mast cells

What are the important adverse effects of Adrenaline?

A
  1. In cardiac arrest, followed hypertension
  2. Anxiety, headaches, tremor, palpitation
  3. May cause angina, MI and arrythmias

A

Where patients receiving beta blockers also, adrenaline may induce widespread Vasoconstriction, since not opposed by beta2 mediated vasodilation.
