Describe their bus system, What makes it efficient?
A rapid bus system is in operation, cheaper to run than a tube system. Some employers subsidise their employees who use it. 80% of travellers use it.
Bus stops are located outside of tube stations which act as locks. This enables efficiency in transport as no time is wasted getting on and off, preventing car pollution (it provides transport for 2 million people which is 70% of transport). The doors are also wide and open for a shorter time, enabling large amounts of people in quickly but ensuring the tube is not stationary for a long time period
Environmentally friendly fuels are used (such as LPG and hydrogen)

How is development done sustainably?
Development of the suburbs is encouraged through an employment line which stretches 34km around the town (such as mechanics, textiles and tourism employment). Public services are also decentralised to enable development.

Discuss how green space is used.
• 55m2 of green space is offered per inhabitant (derelict sites such as abandoned quarries and dumps have been regenerated to parks) with various dedications to nostalgic features for specific ethnic groups including a Ukrainian church. Artificial lakes are built to prevent flooding on green sites (as they act as floodplains).
