- based on scripture and letters written by popes and bishops.

sacredness of life and the dignity of the human person
call to family, community, and participation
human rights, and the responsibility to protect them
preferential option for the poor and vulnerable
dignity of work and the rights of workers
solidarity with all the people as one global family
stewardship and care for God’s creation
CST is based on the 2 great commands of Jesus in Mark 12:29-31:
‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength…Love your neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.’
CST focus on:
justice
justice
- promoting justice (fairness) and eliminating injustice.
CST focus on:
peace
- encouraging harmony between people; preventing/ resolving war and conflict
CST focus on:
reconciliation
- protecting the dignity and rights of the human person, wherever they may be.
no matter what someone’s background is they should not be looked down upon and treated unfairly
Where is CAFOD based
CAFOD is based in england and wales, and is part of caritas, a group of over 160 agencies around the world.
What does CAFOD do ?
CAFOD is- ‘inspired by scripture and catholic social teaching, and the experiences and hopes of people living in poverty
They educate and inform the Catholic community of England and Wales
They campaign for social justice & speak out on behalf of those in most need
What does CAFOD stand for ?
Catholic agency for overseas development
What projects do CAFOD work on ?
long term projects- works in partnership with those in most need
short term projects - when emergency’s strike
why is CST important?
CST promotes the need, for justice, peace and reconciliation
• It means the Church is united together as the Body of Christ to promote fairness
• It is rooted in the Church teaching, and the teachings of Jesus
why is CST important for individuals?
Catholics can show CST in their work/vocation
• By helping the needy in society
• By giving to charity, or promoting the work of charities
