Cross sectional anatomy Flashcards
What is immediately anterior to the vertebrae?
Esophagus in SUPERIOR mediastinum
What is one way to identify the esophagus vs. trachea in cross-section?
Esophagus is squishable - trachea is not because of cartilage
What is in front of the vertebrae from posterior - > anterior
Vertebrae -> esophagus -> trachea (D shaped!) -> aorta
What structure is visible posterior to the esophagus?
Posterior and slightly right
