What is summary offence and the procedure

A

Least serious offences such as common assault. which are always tried in magistrates. Once a person is charged they either receive bail or remain in custody. They then plead guilty or trial

What is a triable either way offence and the procedure.

A

Middle ranged crimes, which are tried in magistrates or crown courts. The defendant then pleads guilty or not guilty. If they plead not guilty the magistrates determine if the trial will be in magistrates or crown court

A

Most serious crime such as murder. First hearing always at magistrates and the sent to crown court.

A

An important pre-trail which determines if the defendant will remain in custody or be granted freedom until the trial

A

Where the defendant is granted bail with certain conditions such as surrendering their passport or visiting police station

A
