16
Q

Optic Nerve

A

Sensory nerve that controls central and peripheral vision

17
Q

Oculomotor Nerve

A

Motor nerve that controls iris contraction and 5 of the 7 muscles that move the eye

18
Q

Trochlear Nerve

A

Motor nerve that innervates the super oblique muscle that is involved in lateral eye movement

19
Q

Trigeminal Nerve

A

Innervates much of the face
Sensory: Transmits pain, touch, temperature, and pressure sensations
Motor: Innervates muscles of mastication, tensor tympani, tensor veli palatini, myohyloid, and digastric muscles

20
Q

3 branches of the trigeminal nervw

A

1.) Ophthalmic (V1, sensory)
2.) Maxillary (V2, sensory)
3.) Mandibular (V3, motor and sensory)

21
Q

Abducens Nerve

A

Motor nerve that controls the lateral rectus muscle

22
Q

Facial Nerve

A

Sensory: Contributes taste info from anterior 2/3 of mouth, floor of mouth, and palate
Motor: Controls facial expression for upper portion of face and innervates stapedius, auricular, stylohyoid, and digastric muscles

23
Q

Vestibulocochlear Nerve

A

Sensory nerve that transmits auditory info from cochlea and vestibular info from utricle, saccule, and semi-circular canals

24
Q

Glossopharyngeal Nerve

A

Sensory: Transmits taste info from posterior 1/3 of tongue, and touch sensations from pinnae/TM
Motor: Controls stylopharyngeus muscle

25
Q

Vagus Nerve

A

Sensory: Transmits some taste sensation from palate and epiglottis plus info from external auditory meatus, TM, and pharynx
Motor: Controls constrictor muscles of the pharynx and intrinsic muscles of the larynx

26
Q

Accessory Nerve

A

Motor nerve that controls neck muscle contraction

27
Q

Hypoglossal Nerve

A

Motor nerve that innervates all intrinsic and most extrinsic tongue muscles
