Optic nerve
Vision
Imparement: blindness
Cranial nerves III, IV, VI
Oculomotor, trochlear, abductees
Movement of eyelid, and eyeball, pupil constriction
Cranial nerve V
Trigeminal nerve
Sensory- touch, temperature, pain on eyes, face, teeth. Controls chewing
Blinking in response to light touch on eyeball
Damage: loss in sensation of upper face, impaired chewing or sensation to jaw
Cranial nerve VII
Facial nerve
Taste, facial expressions, tears and saliva
Damage: sagging face muscles distorted taste
Cranial nerve VIII
Vestibulochochlear
Hearing and balance
Damage: deafness, dizziness, ability to walk in a straight line
Cranial nerve IX
Glossalpharyngeal nerve
Toung movement, swallowing, gagging,
Damage: swallowing, choking, bitter or sour taste
Cranial nerve X
Vagus nerve
Key role in heart, lung, digestive, urinary functions
Damage: loss of voice, impaired swallowing, fatal
Cranial nerve XI
Spinal accessory nerve
Movement in head neck and shoulders
Damage loss of movement in head neck and shoulders
Cranial nerve XII
Hypoglossial nerve
Controls younger movement
Damage: speech and swallowing, deviation of tongue to injured side
