What are the signs of Angina?
Pressing, squeezing, heaviness, a weight Radiating to arm(s), back, neck, jaw, teeth Exertion, stress, cold wind, after meals Few minutes, relieved by rest, GTN Spray Patient has risk factors
What are the signs of an aortic dissection?
Tearing, excruciating, severe then ease
What are the signs of an MI?
Severe, associated autonomic upset
Ongoing pain, despite >10mg Morphine
What are the signs of a pulmonary embolus?
Breathlessness, dull (maybe pleuritic) pain
What are tests of ischaemia?
- Exercise testing
- Perfusion scanning
- CT angiography
What is an antiplatelet drug for CHD?
Aspirin
What is slowing heart rate drug for CHD?
Beta blocker
What is a cholesterol lowering drug for CHD?
Statins
What is a blood pressure reducing drug for CHD?
ACE Inhibitors
What is an angiography?
Sheath inserted into artery
Catheter advanced from wrist / groin to coronary ostium
X-ray contrast agent injected to outline coronaries
Video fluoroscopy recorded images in multiple views
What is revascularisation?
restoration of perfusion to the heart after ischeamia
What is CABG?
Coronary Artery Bypass Graft - It diverts blood around narrowed or clogged parts of the major arteries to improve blood flow and oxygen supply to the heart
What is PCI?
non-surgical procedure that uses a catheter (a thin flexible tube) to place a small structure called a stent to open up blood vessels in the heart that have been narrowed by atherosclerosis
