Q

Explain the process of phytoming

A
  • plants are grown on soil containing low grade copper ores
  • plants are burnt
  • ashes are used to extract copper from their copper compound
  • the copper ions in the compound can be added to sulphuric acid which makes a solution of copper sulphate
  • then that is displaced by scrap irons

Q

Explain process of bioleaching

A
  • bacteria feeds on low grade metal ores
  • lecheate- a solution of copper ions- can be obtained
  • scrap iron/ electrolysis can get copper from this
