What is the pill?
An oral contraceptive.
The pill contains high levels of….
Progesterone and Oestrogen.
Give one pro and one con of the pill.
Pros: Over 99% effective in preventing pregnancy OR reduces the risk of developing some types of cancer.
Cons: There’s still a small chance of pregnancy OR it has side effects (nausea, irregular menstrual cycle) OR it doesn’t protect against STDs
How can fertility be increased?
By injecting FSH and LH to a women with low levels to stimulate egg release.
How does IVF work?
You use a man’s sperm and a woman’s egg to grow an embryo outside of the whom and then the embryo is then transferred to the women’s uterus.
Give one pro and one con of IVF.
Pro: Gives an infertile couple fertility
Con: Multiple eggs are fertilised which increases risk of miscarriage or a stillbirth.
