What are some examples of hormonal contraceptives?
Oestrogen to prevent the release of an egg, progesterone, The pill which releases the hormones above
What are some examples of contraception barries?
Condoms, Diaphragm, Spermicide
What is a Diaphragm?
A small plastic cup that fits over the cervix
What is Sterilisation?
Cutting the path/tube for an egg or sperm to be released. This is a permanent procedure
What hormones can be given to women to increase fertility?
FSH and LH to stimulate ovulation
What are the pros and cons of giving women FSH and LH Hormones?
Pro = It helps a lot of women to get pregnant Con= doesn't work all the time and can lead to multiple pregnancies
What is IVF?
A process which involves collecting eggs from a woman’s ovaries and fertilises them in a lab then its put back into a woman’s uterus
What are the Pros and Cons of IVF?
Pro= gives an infertile couple a child Cons= Multiple Births, Low success rate
Why are some people against IVF treatment?
Unethical, discarded embryos are potential lives
