ATCO shall;
- up to date with latest orders, instructions, notices & signals.
- service ability of aerodrome and its facilities
- full details of weather situation, study forecasts and charts
- full understanding of prevailing air traffic situation

Once all completed ATCO shall sign ATC Watch Log

The responsibility for the accuracy of a hand-over lies with the person vacating an operational position.

The order in which information should be passed from one controller to another should be as follows:
- General information, including any variations from routine operations
- Other supplementary information relating to the position
- The detailed traffic situation

• Changes to the serviceability of radio and surveillance systems
• Essential aerodrome information and changes to runway in use
• Result of routine equipment checks conducted by controllers
• Details of reportable events such as aircraft accidents, incidents and AIRPROXs
• Any unusual occurrences
• Hand-over of responsibility for providing ATC services and, at units not operating throughout the 24-hour period, times of opening and closing of watch
