Control Flashcards
How does the computer control the output?
When the computer processes the data it may apply rules to it and control an output
Give a simple flow diagram of control systems
Sensors read data –> computer processes data –> output
What is a feedback system?
A system where the output affects the conditions of the environment
Give the advantages and disadvantages of robots?
Advantages:
Repetitive jobs to the same standard 24/7
They can perform tasks in dangerous locations
Can perform heavy jobs
They do not need breaks
Disadvantages:
Expensive initial installation
Can’t adapt to situations
Led to unemployment
What is data logging?
Recording results automatically using sensors
The data that has been collected can be processed by a computer system
The software can analyse the data and produce results in different formats, e.g. tables
What are the advantages and disadvantages of using ICT in healthcare?
Advantages: Continuous monitoring 24/7 Automatic alarms Reduced chance of human error Nurses time is freed for other duties
Disadvantages:
Initial cost of equipment
